Purpose of United Methodist Men Worldwide:
The
organized unit of the United Methodist Men shall be a community of men whose
PURPOSE is to provide a dedicated ministry for building men spiritually while
involving them in the ministry of the Church.
The United Methodist
Men’s ministry leads to the spiritual growth of men and to effective
discipleship. This purpose is served as men are called to model the servant
leadership of Jesus Christ.
Conway's men
specify their objectives to be 1) foster advocacy programs that train men to
promote specific ministries including prayer, missions, stewardship, hunger
relief and civic/youth ministries, 2) forge partnerships with local clergy and
3) Assist men in ever-changing relationships, roles and responsibilities in the
family setting, workplace and society. On an individual basis we shall 1)
strive to engage in daily prayer, 2) be a witness to Christ's way in daily work
and in all personal contacts through words and actions and 3) engage in
Christian service.
As a group we are striving
to further our level of Discipleship and the Fellowship among all men of the
church while we continue to seek to focus on missions in third world
countries.
Plan now to join us
at our monthly meetings which are held in the Family Life Center every third
Monday starting at 6:00 p.m. for a time of fellowship, with dinner at 6:30 pm. You will experience a Christ filled evening, a
great meal, and wonderful fellowship as together we strive to respond to God's
call.
Men of Conway United Methodist, take notice:
Jim Pate has presented us with a Power Point slide show of all the main thoughts
we had during group investigation and discovery sessions at the Saturday retreat
we held in June. Also in the slide show are the lists of our strengths and
obstacles we discovered, and the proposed Vision and Mission statements.
You may view those slides by clicking this link to "Conway UMM
Retreat Notes".
