United Methodist Women

PURPOSE

The organized unit of the United Methodist Women (UMW) is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Our local unit is composed of a number of smaller circles that meet separately from the general meeting.  The general meeting is held in the parlor on the 2nd Tuesday of the month beginning at 10:30 and includes lunch.  All women of the church are invited.

One significant activity of the UMW is operation of the Thrift Shop.  Women of the church serve as salespersons.  New or used clothing - men's, women's, children's and infant's - in good condition are always needed as are bed linens, curtains and draperies.  All items that cannot be used are sent to the Orlando Rescue Mission, thereby aiding indirectly as support of local missions. It also funds much of our contribution to the General Board of Missions.  For more information contact the THRIFT SHOP COMMITTEE, Mary Lou Boyland coordinator, at (407) 851-7186.
