News from Pastor Dianne & Church Council

Dear Conway Members and Friends,

Our Re-opening Task Force has been very diligent in watching the status of the COVID-19 data. The most recent reports indicate a decrease in the number of positive cases. Therefore, we feel re-opening our in-person worship with limited capacity is something we can do cautiously.

As we approach our in-person worship date, September 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., we want to share what things will look like. The procedures we will follow are not only a precaution to protect the most vulnerable among us; they are a promise to each other that we will provide the safest experience that we believe we can reasonably create. We will continue to pre-record services at least through October.

The following are some of the procedures you can expect.

  • Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. (Church will be open at 9:30 a.m.)

  • Everyone will be expected (required) to wear face masks while inside the building.

  • Temperatures will not be taken as you enter. However, it would be a good idea to take your temperature before attending service.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the front entrance (narthex) of the church.

  • Ushers will help you find a seat to match our social-distancing seating plan. Please stay seated in these areas.

  • Limited seating capacity.

  • Offering plates/box will be placed in the front entrance.

  • There will be no printed bulletins.

  • The worship team will wear masks until they sing. They will remain in the front and will practice social distancing.

  • Congregational singing is prohibited because of the distance droplets can travel from singing. We encourage humming in your mask.

  • You will be dismissed by the ushers.

  • Since Sunday, September 6, is Communion Sunday, everyone will be given a prepackaged communion in a zip lock bag when entering the sanctuary.

  • Children and Youth programs will continue online, however, children and youth are welcome to attend the worship service.

  • Sunday school will not resume at this time.

We realize that for some, it may seem we’re doing too much; for others, we may look like we’re not doing enough. We care about each and every one of you and our plan has been very carefully thought out to protect all who choose to join us in person, in the most practical way we can. We can hardly wait until the time when this will no longer be necessary, and we can welcome you and greet everyone with open arms and even encourage the closeness. We are not there yet, but that day will come.

Please remember that if you do not feel comfortable attending in-person worship, we will still be online. Again, we will continue to pre-record service for view through Facebook, YouTube, and telephone streaming. If anyone in your household is ill or you have been exposed, we recommend that you worship from home. Moreover, if you have been exposed please contact Pastor Dianne.

Let’s continue in faith to pray for each other! Be encouraged this too shall pass!
